Christmas Eve

Julie took this one of Ella this afternoon (you can tell Julie took it because it's actually good).

We opened "Secret Santa" gifts this evening. Shiloh was very happy to get Flushed Away. Hooray!

Ella's hair is growing out. She kinda looks like one of the Beatles.

Ella's Birthday

We celebrated Ella's birthday on the 18th (combining it with Carol's birthday). Here are a couple of snapshots from that evening:

"Hello?" Ella got this little phone for her birthday, and promptly set about making some important calls.

Shiloh blows out a candle at everyone's birthday party, so I guess that must make him about eighty-something by now.

Here a few pictures Julie snapped yesterday of the kids riding on the sled in our own Winter Wonderland. Sorry in advance for the poor quality of the pictures; I didn't have time to host them properly.

Of course, we had to go native.

Ella LOVED the play structure.

So did Shiloh.

Ella also thought sand was DELICIOUS and kept offering us some. We declined politely.

Birth Days

Here's Shiloh and Ella sharing my tiramisu last weekend when we celebrated my birthday.

It was cold Tuesday morning when I snapped this picture of Shiloh in the swing. He was just waiting for the photoshoot to end so we could get back to swinging.

We visited the YMCA play structure yesterday. Ella LOVED the slide and she LOVED the other kids and she thought the tunnels were THE GREATEST THING EVER. On another note, I *may* have thrown my back out hauling her up the five child-sized levels to the top of the slide.

Recently Ella

Here at the Confederate Canuck, we strive to bring you the very freshest Ella possible. The two shots below were taken in the car this afternoon.

Ella sitting by the fire with Mom Saturday night. I can't decide which one is cuter... Incidentally, Ella was very embarrassed later to realize that this fashion faux pas was recorded for posterity in this image.

The North American Tree Ella is very elusive. Sightings are rare, although they are usually accompanied by delighted giggles. Julie managed to get this shot of a Tree Ella on Saturday night.

The Mink

A mink caused a bit of a stir out at the farm last week by showing up unannounced and barking fiercely at us from the protection of the flowerbed. It looks a bit like a weasel, but with a smaller neck. Minks are often grouped in the skunk family due to the strong musky odor they produce to deter predators.
